THERE IS NO "OFF" SEASON
Growing up I did not have the opportunity to attend athletic camps because my family could not afford it. Luckily, I was raised in a region where quality athletes surrounded me and, as I played with and against them, I became a better player. After years of participation in Alabama youth football, I earned a spot on my high school football team and went on to play junior college ball in Mississippi. While at EMCC, I was rated #15 out of the top 100 JuCo LB players in the nation. I was recruited by some of the nation’s top college football programs. After a devastating knee injury, I played at Idaho State University and Chadron State University on full ride scholarships. I was invited to workout for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, Minnesota Vikings, Washington Redskins and Kansas City Chiefs.
My success in football allowed me the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree in physical education and be the first college graduate in my family. I am proof that sports and hard work can change a person’s life.
Over the years, I have been very active in the youth sports scene here in Idaho Falls by working and volunteering with the YMCA and coaching at the grid kid, jr. high, and high school level. As a high school coach, I recognize the need for athletes to have a strong foundation in the basic fundamentals of whatever sport they choose to participate in. It has not escaped my notice that a large number of our youth feel they must travel long distances and spend lots of $$ to attend a quality football camp.
Given my personal family situation while growing up, I understand that there are athletes or families who cannot afford to attend higher priced sports camps or camps in general. I believe we have many athletes in this area who have great potential. My goal is to provide affordable, accessible, and quality training & development opportunities for Idaho athletes and to assist them with college recruiting when the time comes.
I believe that there are individuals in our community that have played a sport at the collegiate or professional level; they would be an ideal resource to help our young players develop. My goal is to find and engage these community members in the program. I also aim to provide opportunities for area high school coaches to work together for a common goal and strengthen our sense of community.
